The other day I came across an article on the reality tv shows debuting this fall. One of the shows mentioned was The Salt-n-Pepa Show. I think it starts Oct 15th on VH1.

When I read that they were going to have their own show, I thought it would be something along the lines of that show with the two Coreys. It would be Salt and Pepa hanging out and just doing stuff.

Well, thanks to On Demand I was able to watch the first episode. I was surprised to find out that the reason they stopped making albums is because Salt basically left the group. She was depressed and bulimic. She called Pepa one day and said “I’m out”, and that was that. Pepa felt betrayed by her partner and things haven’t been the same since.

The best part of the episode was watching the two perform together at Salt’s church. Salt is a Christian now and has very strong beliefs which is completely opposite of Pepa’s wild ways. Poor Pepa had to try really hard to keep their performance of “What A Man” clean. Salt kept Pepa in check though when she started to do get a little suggestive with her moves.

The show looks interesting, and I may have to make an effort to watch it. The emotions felt between these two ladies are very real and raw. It looks like it will be real and not scripted like most reality shows are.
