I’m mostly a Pop/Top 40 girl. As much as I listen to all kinds of music, it’s just the truth. I have a lot of mainstream stuff.

I recently noticed that it had been a while since I’d really gotten into any new R & B music. Like there are songs that I’ve liked, but I think the last R & B album I bought was Usher’s last album. I think that was over 3 years ago. Oh and I did buy Robin Thicke’s album, but that’s about it.

I’ve liked some of the songs by T-Pain and Akon. Akon’s voice is just kind of annoying though. I might download a song or two, but I don’t want a CD with just him. At first I hated ”I Wanna Love You”. I mean he meets a girl and is straight up like I wanna fuck you.. Nice..(not) But the beat (and Snoop Dog) won me over.

The same thing happened with T-Pain’s “Buy You a Drank”. So just because you buy a girl a drink and you’ve “got money in the bank” you can take the girl home? Hell no. Well maybe that works with some chicks but not me. I’m picky when it comes to that shit. But alas, the actual music won me over. “Bartender” is kind of corny too, but it grows on you. Plus I have a good memory connected to that song. 

I’m actually going to put my girl Sarah (name has been changed) on blast and say that if we went out to a club she would go home with the T-Pain or Akon guy for sure. She could and has gotten better, but she would be more likely to say yes than me. She knows it.

Anywho.. Let’s talk about what I do like.

1. J. Holiday - “Bed” The first time I heard this song was on MTV Hits, and I changed the channel because it was at the bed bed bed part. After actually listening, I realized this song is HOT. It’s romantic and sexy without being over the top.
2. Lloyd - “Get it Shawty” and “You” I’m still a little on the fence with Lloyd but teetering more to the like side. I like his songs. “Get it Shawty” is a great dance track, and he did a good job sampling “I Know This Much Is True”  for “You”.
3. Keyshia Cole - “Let it Go” What you thought I was just hopped up on testosterone? Not hardly. I love Keyshia Cole. She was the reason I tolerated Diddy’s singing in “Last Night”. She killed that song. Her voice is awesome.

On a side note, I love Alicia Keys’ new song too, but she rarely disappoints.
